Assessment task and assessment criteria for coursework
There is one component of formal assessment:
Assignment: Learning Journal (Word limit 3,000)
You are required to provide an individual learning journal. A learning journal is not a diary for private consumption, a log of daily activities, a summary of your readings in the course, or a track of your psychological state and your inner feelings about life. It is an intellectual exercise in reflectively describing and explaining, in applying the theory on learning and competencies to your personal and professional development. It is how you apply the material FROM THE MODULE to your development, reflect on it and assess where you currently are and how you could improve in each of these areas.
The journal needs to link theory and development activities to yourself - but should not take time to describe lots of theory - we will know if you understand it by how you apply it in a reflective manner. Theory can be critiqued, in fact this would increase your grade. The higher marks are for those who display critical analysis, synthesis and evaluation (refer to Blooms taxonomy of learning).
Please note journals are about personal journeys of development - this is respected by the teaching team.
NOTE: SEMINAR 3 IS DEVOTED TO HOW TO WRITE LEARNING JOURNALS
Marking Criteria
· Capacity to apply theory in practice in a reflective manner to your own development.
· Ability to assess personal strengths and weaknesses in relation to skills, learning patterns, and development.
· Ability to critique theory.
· Ability to evaluate which skills you need to develop and provide a plan on how this can be achieved
· Higher grades to demonstrate the higher level learning skills in Blooms taxonomy of learning.
